Our story and our cottages
We are Marine and Benjamin, thirty-somethings, parents of two little girls and passionate about renovation. I’m Marine, a beautician and make-up artist with a passion for decorating. He’s Benjamin, a bricklayer fascinated by structural work and old buildings.
It all started in 2016, when we spent 20 months completely renovating our house. The more old-fashioned it is, the more we like it! After a few years’ respite (or almost), we were itching for a new project.
And then, like a sign of fate, the abandoned stone building next door came up for sale, right in the middle of our search. We’d almost signed up for another house, but we were immediately drawn to the place. In one visit, the project was launched: to transform these forgotten walls into a haven of peace for holidays in the countryside.
Nine months later, the cottage l’Escapade opened its doors on the 1st of June 2024. But we couldn’t stop there: a second, even more dilapidated building was waiting for us. Originally, there was nothing, just stone walls, a dirt floor and a forest that hid all its potential. Several months of hard work later, L’Idylle was born, a gîte for two where you can enjoy a relaxing weekend away from the daily grind.
What drives us? Bringing abandoned places back to life, restoring their lustre and offering our guests a timeless break. Whether you’re looking for a break in the Cotentin region as a couple, with friends or as a family, Nos Jours Heureux invites you to slow down, breathe and make the most of the moment.
